But my loving husband has been working some crazy hours, thus leaving me all alone with my (loud) active children. Actually, Nicole spends every moment at either school or Cheerleading, so I don''t even have her help.. It''s the under 5 crowd that''s killing me.
I know poor ME!
2007 Disney Highlights:
Per usual, Tourgide Danielle managed to plan our entire trip down to every last detail.
We had groceries delivered to the house as we got off the plane! THANK GOD! .. Aiden + Hungry + sick of the plane = CRANKY. We were lucky enough to dodge that bullet.
All the Chesley Babies are growing up, Kurtis has moved up the ranks to OLDEST TEENAGER.
Emily has decided that Kurt will be her PRINCE and she will marry him when she grows up. And let me tell ya, Emily does not take marriage lightly. For at least the last 6 months Aiden was her prince and she was going to marry him, and there was no talking her out of it. However, it appears that Aiden has been replaced by Kurtis. Her exact reason " Aiden drools too much." She has a point. He does.
Let it be recorded in stone (or on the internet, same thing) that for the first time Mister Christopher Ford shed all apprehension and went of EVERY ROLLER COASTER there was. He was very brave.
Emily is obsessed with princesses, but when the time came to meet them, she froze. These are the princess whose faces are on her bed, pillows, toothbrush, plate, cup and pj''s. It might freak a person out to see them come to life.
She eventually warmed up to everyone. She had no choice, she had to protect the Princesses from her BROTHER. Belle from Beauty and the Beast mentioned that she was going to the Ball with the Beast later that evening. Never under any circumstances say the word BALL around Aiden. He went crazy. Jumping and crouching hitting an imaginary ball and yelling at Belle in his man voice. "Ball? I play Ball. I play baseball. Soccer Ball. I love football. " Emily was so embarrassed she hid under her shirt. Poor girl. This is only the beginning.
Left Florida and it was a balmy 75ish degrees and landed in Manchester, NH to the first snow of the season. The kids were so happy to see Yellow House with snow.
Thanksgiving was filling and shopping has been an adventure. Next up Nicole''s Birthday and then Christmas!
Wow.. We don''t have any babies anymore.
Just Big Kids.
We are mourning the end of the BABY YEARS over here so this may be a little long.
We learned few things by watching those movies:
At 2 years old Emily spoke what appears to be Chinese. Did you know that? She kisses Aiden on the top of his head only , (doesn''t want any drool). She used sign language all the time. She imitates every movement Nicole makes. Even singing. Ahem..
Aiden was a daredevil at age 8 months, getting himself stuck under the kitchen chairs. Also it appears that from 5 months to the present he has either a bruise or cut on his face.
Nicole @ age 10 had unbelievable patience trying to teach 2 year old Emily a dance routine.
So sad, it''s like the end of an era..
ANYWAY.. back to the present..
Aiden is crazy. He rode his bike down the stairs on purpose. Scared Dan to DEATH. He started to jump out of his crib, so Dan converted it to the toddler bed. Emily "teached him" how to jump out. Wasn''t that nice of her. Freaks me out with his athletic ability. He can manage a soccer ball, shoot a basket, balance on a skateboard and hit a ball with a bat. Kinda fun/scary to watch him. FUN: because he''s so proud of himself tells himself "good job" or "good try", SCARY: because there is an 80% chance that you as an observer will get hit with either the ball or the bat. Aiden TALKS ALL THE TIME. Honestly, it''s enough to make your ears bleed.. But an informal speech test showed him in the 41% for his age group. At this age Emily scored is the 7% for her age group. I was understandably "off the freaking wall happy" with his score. So talk away baby boy, I don''t even care if my ears bleed.
Emily likes her new pre-school, so much, that when I picked her up she growled " I told you not to come back". I''ll try and not take that stab through the heart personal. Emily is all about the drama lately, "her legs are very fast", "her brain is thinking something". She loves to blame her body parts for everything. She can''t go to sleep because " her eyes won''t listen and keep opening." She needs a snack because "her belly is yelling at her brain "im hungry".. " Today is the last game for Soccer. She will miss her friends but not the game so much. It interrupts playtime with her teammates.
Cole loves her new school, very social. Did I mention social? Oct. 2007 will forever go down as the month of THE $89.00 WORTH OF TEXT MESSAGES NOT COVERED BY MY PLAN. Nicole has since been signed up for UNLIMITED texting as well as UNLIMITED yard work. Her and Christopher are happy to be in the same school, they look at it as they now have 2 sets of parents to get rides from. BIG NEWS: Kurtis got 100 on his driving test and got his license. He''s trying to find a vehicle in his price range, maybe we will see him on PIMP MY RIDE.
Hope everyone is doing well..
Now that I''m back to being at home all the time maybe I''ll update more.. It could happen!
If you do not believe me I invite you to sit in my car and listen to a typical conversation as we pull in the driveway..
"I love YELLOW HOUSE. Our house is YELLOW. We don''t live in the WHITE HOUSE, that is our old house. HI YELLOW HOUSE.. We missed you. We love YELLOW HOUSE.."
We do love this house. August went by really fast. Here''s a quick recap..
Nicole.. First day of 7th grade. New kid in school. Christopher had REALLY bad case of Mono and couldn''t be there for the first day, but he''s almost all better and has returned to school. They are in the same school & same grade but different classes. Cole likes school and has made a few friends.
Emily... We signed her up for Soccer, she loves the first 25 minutes. After that it''s a bit of a fight to complete the hour long game. New Pre-school started today, 3 days a week with speech 2x''s a week. Marybeth is her new speech teacher, and if I wasn''t already taken, I might propose to her. She''s open to tracking Emily''s progress, she doesn''t think I''m crazy, and she will admit that sometimes she can''t understand Emily either..
Skippy.. Ever see the show Man vs.Wild?
This is how Aiden views EVERY day. He starts talking, moving, jumping and running the moment he wakes up.
"Hi Mama.. Where''s Dada? At work. Up. Apple Juice. I''m a BOY. Jump! Frog.. Ribbit.. Ribbit. EMWEEE(Emily)WHERE ARE YOU?" all this is BEFORE he gets out of bed.
He is constantly in motion. His new speech teacher is Jessica. The poor girl. She''s a tiny little thing and I''m afraid he''s going to hurt her with his ENTHUSIASM.
He has almost broken my nose twice and has brought Dan to his knees by throwing the ball at his "man parts".. He is a force of nature.
The Black and Whites on the home page are the most recent pictures. A few weeks ago I forced them all to amuse me and just smile. My computer and my camera are having a lover''s quarrel, and are refusing to communicate. I have about 50 pictures I can''t get off the camera. Time for the Geek Squad to help.
I''m off to the NASCAR races this weekend..
See you all soon!
Ps.. I was able to upload a video of storytime with Emily. At the top of the page click VIDEO and it''s the one labled.. Once upon a time..
Can''t believe your four years old. Kinda freaks me out how fast your growing up.
You are however, a walking Hallmark Commercial these days.
When giving a smooch: "I love you too much.."
"Aiden is my Prince and I love him" as if we said that you didn''t..
"I don''t want Coley to go to Camp, I will miss her and cry all the time".. The DRAMA!
"You are the best mom in the whole world" -(Because I gave you a freeze pop before breakfast..)
This year has been so much fun for both of us.
Together we got to watch Aiden grow into the fruitcake that he has become. He plays the games you make up as long as he can bring his ball. Nicole and you are the best of friends, reading books and painting your nails..
You made new friends at preschool. Report card told us what we already knew.. Your a smartie and that you were kind and gentle to your classmates. Crazy that you are old enough to get a report card..
Happy Fourth Birthday Baby Girl..
We love you!
PS: You might not remember.. But, Sorry about hitting you in the head with the car door today..
GREAT HOUSE SEARCH OF 2007: lots to report. Located a home in Pembroke,NH only a few miles from the Chelsey home. Yeah! However.. the septic needs to be replaced. So we are kinda going back and forth with the seller. I''ll keep you posted.
Nicole: Doing well.. Progress reports came out. Learned REALLY fast how a "not-so-great" progress report can affect a budding social life. It''s hard to be (act) 12 years old ALL THE TIME..
Emily: I had a meeting with her pre-school. Next year she will go 3x a week with speech 2x. We are also enrolled in the summer program. Ultimate goal is for her to speak (and be understood) at or around her age level. She doesn''t mind being corrected if she pronounces something wrong but hell hath no fury like Emily being MISUNDERSTOOD!
Aiden: HE''S A BOY! Between learning the word happy and finding out he''s a boy yelling is his new favorite trick. He frightens people. Random strangers are assaulted with his deep man voice as he jumps in their path and screams "I a HAPPY BOY!"
There is so much more but I have to go!
PS. For those who saw the video of Emily''s Singing.. We provide that child with some beautiful clothing, she takes it off and runs around in her underwear.. She''s crazy like that.
He''s HAPPY! He is so animated and funny so I posted a video asking him who is HAPPY.. Cracks me up every time.
Loves Diego. He says FREEZE BoBo''s! (Diego''s tagline) The Spanish I could do without, but there are times when Aiden could be speaking German for all I know.
Had evaluation for speech, he scored very low.
2 days after the evaluation, he had a language explosion. Calls Nicole : Cole, says apple juice, chips are PIPS. He talks all the time now: Mommy''s car, Daddy''s car.. HI, CAR! Loves to wave to passing vehicles. He will still have therapy but just for articulation.
Crazy in love with basketball and baseball. Says "shoot?" when he want''s you to play basketball with him. He shouts "almost" if he misses a pitch.
Started Gymnastics. He runs and jumps and "almost" waits his turn on the trampoline. Emily pretends she doesn''t know him. He seems to like the balance beam, likes the danger in it I think. He stops halfway across and pretends that he''s going to fall off. Nutcake.
After the airport fiasco where my mother and I were going to step on him because he kept running away, I began puppy training. Just him and I walked the mall, if he ran away he had to sit for time out. He had 4 in an hour and a half. He seems to be getting better. But I''m sure if the opportunity presented itself, he''s be off and running. .
Loves to give kisses. If you ask him to "wind up a kiss" he pucker''s up and will continue to smooch you until he''s removed .
This list could go on for ages...
I hope that we remember how much he makes everyone of us laugh so hard.
Yeah! For those breathlessly awaiting an update.. It''s here.. Almost. As you may have noticed, it''s been a little busy here at Casa de Weldon. So I need to recap the last couple weeks more for myself than anyone else..
The front page has gone retro!
In honor of the Papa''s birthday we dug thru a billion pictures so I posted a few on the front page.
Nicole: We signed her up for Summer camp. Had sleep over after the big dance. Watched over her brother and sister ALONE for the first time. Passed Reading exam. Has learned (the hard way) to refrain from asking WHY?
Emily: Hmm where to begin. She used to call my mom "I" she now calls her G-mommy. If something was missing and she located it she would screech "Elmo!" Now she just rolls her eyes and yells that she "found it".. Her speech is coming along, slowly. There is still no real diagnosis, appears to be strictly an articulation issue. She still uses her signs, but not as much as she used to. She''s pushing limits and testing my patience, but at the same time she''s more aware of other people''s feelings. Very quick to say sorry if she makes someone sad. What''s kinda weird is that she doesn''t let it go. Two days after the incident she will randomly apologize again.
Aiden: He''s HAPPY.. I''m trying to get him on video explaining how he''s not sad. Not sad =''s HAPPY. I love how he decides who''s happy : Emily, the cat, everyone''s HAPPY! The best part is the visual, when he says "HAPPY" you can see every tooth in his mouth as he concentrates on the word. For the last couple months he would refer to Nicole as DO-DO, (no clue why), he''d break out his man voice and shout for DO-DO to COME HERE. Last week for the first time he called her Cole.
Nicole and her fellow cheerleaders won the Class M Championship last Sunday. This title has not been held at their school since 1993. This information however did not keep them from being totally sure they''d win. Before the competition Nicole told us that even though they hadn''t won in 14 years she know they were going to win, because the Coach promised them Jackets! C''mon..wouldn''t you do the best performance of your life for a cheerleading jacket? No word on the jackets yet,but each team member was given a medal, Nicole keeps hers in her room and each day we are allowed a 2.5 minute viewing each day.
Christopher''s Basketball Team finished 2nd in the league. After a nail biting round of playoffs the season is over. Christopher scored about a billion points and has won a serious case of Hero-worship from Aiden. Aiden loves basketball. He made it to Christopher''s last few games and would sit quietly, hoping he would be allowed to play. His eyes only left the ball long enough to point at Christopher or clap with he made the basket.
I have been trying to uploade the video of Nicole''s routine, but so far no luck. I shot a small video of Emily singing Twinkle Twinkle.
Backstory: Dan had taken her two necklaces and put them on top of the Entertainment center. Emily climbed up there to get them and was explaining to me why there was a chair next to the TV.
We made it! Got there on Thursday left on Monday. Danielle won $200 on a $5.00 machine, Casey won bout $500 and I won $450 on a nickel slot.
We power walked everywhere, at least 10 miles. Our room was at the Venetian, at the hotel inside the hotel, the Ventetzia. Beautiful room with a view & about 1.5 miles walk for a cup of Coffee. (We ended up with Room Service for Coffee, no one should be expected to power walk unless well caffeinated.)
Vegas was gearing up to celebrate the Chinese New Year. It''s the year of the Pig,ya know.. Most of the places we visited were decorated for the New Year Celebration.. I won''t name all the locations we went, just think ALL OF LAS VEGAS BLVD.
Saturday night was "O" at the Bellagio. It was a beautiful show. Costumes, Dancers, Water Ballet, Trapeze acts. There appeared to be a story, but in reality there wasn''t one.. ( I would have found that info useful during ACT 1.)
Sunday night we went to Delmonico''s. Kept our eyes peeled, but Emril didn''t show. No "BAM!" Very elegant.. Steak, Lobster and Scallops.
Plane rides went OK.. LONG, but OK. Casey didn''t freak out so Danielle didn''t get embarrassed.. We could go on a limb and call it a success!
Thursday morning begins another chapter in the National Lampoon Sister''s on Vacation series.
Danielle, Casey and I are leaving for Las Vegas...
6 Hour flight.. Casey get''s bored easily and Danielle gets embarrassed easily. Has all the fixings for a rocking good time.
Casey and I have never been there, from all reports it sounds like Disneyland for big kids. We have tickets to "O", which is a part of Cirque du Soleil. (not Oprah). Danielle has chosen to not plan our every waking moment (gasp). So we have a selection of 500 options per day, hopefully we can fit it all in.
We return Monday night. Unless Casey gets us kicked off the return flight.
May I present : Princess Fiona, Donkey, Puss AND BOOTS.. and last but not least, everyone''s favorite green ogre.. Shrek..
Granny and Papa purchased the Shrek & Donkey Lamp. Push the button to hear a quote from the movie. Aiden has pushed the button about 5 billion times. He may have a callous.. We have the life sized doll of Shrek. Talking Puss in Boots and talking Donkey. All this in addition to the Shrek toothbrush, Pj''s and drink cup..
Since I have spent so much time with them recently, I feel it''s only right to give them front page of the website.
For everyone breathlessly waiting for our Christmas Cards.. I apologize. We did the Photo Shoot. Got the picture. Got the cards back and they looked awful, we sent them back, and they actually came out worse. Tried two more times, but no luck, Must have been the lighting.
Christmas this year was so much fun. Emily told everyone she came in contact with that "Santa is coming, ya know." Cole had her so hyped about Santa that when we went to visit him at the mall, she kinda froze. She waited until she was a safe distance of 10 - 15 feet from Santa and yelled to him what she would like for Christmas. Aiden had NO problem with Santa, he was all like, Ok.. Sit on his lap, say Cheese and get my candy cane. Sounds good to me..
Everyone got so much great stuff that we are still trying to find a place for everything. Christmas vacation went by for Cole & Emily a bit too fast.
We had not planned on letting Emily and Aiden stay up on New Year''s Eve, but it worked out that way. Uncle Randy set off the fire works which everyone loved. "Pretty Colors" was the big favorite. Then it was time for the count down..
2006 went by so fast. Scary to think that my babies aren''t really babies anymore and my big kid is almost a TEENAGER.. Sad to see everyone get older, I kinda want to freeze time, but then at the same time I''m having so much fun with these new big kids that it''s probably illegal.
